ABOUT THE PEOPLE

In 1986, Steve Edgett and Al Williams established EDGETT WILLIAMS Consulting Group to provide comprehensive building transportation system consulting services for new and existing buildings. With over fifty years experience in all aspects of building transportation system design, Edgett and Williams offer their clients the most comprehensive and innovative design services available in the industry. Prior to founding the firm, Edgett and Williams were the senior building transportation staff at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, serving SOM's nine international offices. EDGETT WILLIAMS continues to provide consulting services to Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, as well as to other leading architects, developers and property management companies, throughout the US and around the world.
Steven D. Edgett has over thirty-five years experience in design, engineering, construction and manufacturing in the elevator industry. Edgett has directed the building transportation departments for both Skidmore Owings & Merrill and Jaros Baum and Bolles Consulting Engineers, two of the world's leading firms in tall building design. Prior to SOM, Edgett was a safety engineer with the Elevator Unit of the State of California, and worked as an engineer and engineering manager for a major elevator manufacturer. Edgett has pioneered development of building transportation design software and the use of microcomputers for monitoring elevator operation, traffic and life safety.
Allen M. Williams has worked in various capacities on building transportation systems over the last thirty-five years. As an engineer for Otis Elevator Company, Williams participated in the development of California life safety and earthquake standards. As a lead designer at Otis, Williams gained broad experience in elevator system design, manufacture, and installation. At Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Williams worked with their offices to unify SOM Division 14 Conveying Systems specifications. Williams is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, the Construction Specifications Institute, and the International Conference of Building Officials. Williams attended Case Western Reserve University where he studied mechanical engineering.
